Life stages
Cognitive: at this stage children can think in language without fully understanding, Pigged said that from 2-7 years they will be unable to work things out or think about things in a logical way (pre- operational stage). From 7-11 years they will be able to work out simple problems known as ââ¬Å"concrete operationsâ⬠, this is what Pigged called the concrete-operational stage. Emotional It is in the childhood life stage where people develop an idea of self, they will start understanding self and others. They are likely to direct a large amount of their energy in to mastering skills and knowledge.Relationships with their parents, other relatives, friends and teachers will have an impact on the child's self-confidence and how they feel valued. The child may develop a permanent sense of confidence or of inferiority and failure. Social Childhood is where social learning first occurs, primary solicitation will take place which is where a child will learn social roles and behaviors f rom within their family context. This will provide a ââ¬Ësafe base' from which children will explore relationships with other children and learn cooperation through play.As a child gets older they will become increasingly independent by making friendships with other children which will lead to them developing mutual trust. Towards the end of the childhood stage, children will develop a circle of friends and will begin to be able to understand another person's point of view. Adolescence (10-18 years) The physical changes that occur in the body during adolescence are mainly due to puberty, which is triggered by the hypothalamus in both genders. Puberty occurs generally between 11 and 13 years of age in females and between 13 and 15 years in males.Female puberty: The physical changes that will occur in adolescent females are; pubic hairs, breast growth, periods beginning and widening of hips. These changes occur in order for females to prepare for pregnancy and childbirth and are dr iven by the hormone estrogen. Male puberty: Male adolescents will develop reams. These changes occur to make them physically strong and is driven by testosterone. Intellectual It is within the adolescence stage of life where ââ¬Ëadult thinking' will develop, this means thinking using logic and abstract thought processes and is called the formal operational stage in Piglet's stages of development.Logical thinking enables adolescents and adults to think scientifically and solve complex problems in their heads that they would not have previously been able to. Abstract thought processes allow adolescents and adults to think beyond the limits of everyday experience and wink through complicated problems without requiring to see concrete pictures to solve them. Emotional In adolescence the sense of self will continue to develop, in this stage adolescents will need to develop a secure sense of identity, this was first stated by Erikson.A clear understanding of self-identity will enable a person to feel secure when working with others and also to make a sexual loving attachment to another person. Self-esteem in adolescence may depend on the development of identity. Social In adolescence, secondary social learning will occur. An adolescent's self-worth will owe be more heavily influenced by other adolescents than by family. They will copy the behavior, clothing, interests, beliefs and cultural values from their own network of friends.Adulthood (18-65 years) Early adulthood: A person's physical performance will peak at 19-26 years, and at this age an adult will be optimistic about their future health. The main physical concerns are likely to be with diet, weight, exercise, addiction, reproduction, pregnancy and breastfeeding. Middle adulthood: this is when health concerns will begin to develop and sight is very likely to decline. An adult in this stage will also develop wrinkles and grey hairs. Men will experience a reduction of testosterone and women will experience menopause, this is a sharp reduction in estrogen, reduction of bone density and loss of fertility.Intellectual Adulthood is also included in Piglet's formal operational stage of intellectual development, which I have described in the adolescence intellectual development stage. A psychologist called Chase said that there is extending cognitive skills in adulthood, including; an achieving stage, a responsibility stage and an executive stage. Creativity peaks in adulthood in relation to lyrical poetry or theoretical math's or physics in an adults ass-ass, and in areas such as philosophy or history later in adulthood.Emotional A psychologist named Erikson gave much input in to the emotional development of adulthood, he said that in early adulthood there will be a conflict of intimacy vs.. Where an adult will be avoiding isolation learning to form an attachment to a partner, they will be trying to not be too self-centered or defensive. Middle adulthood: this is where an adult will be att empting to stay involved with their social life and legislations, but there will be a loss of interest in social issues which will create a risk of emotional stagnation. In early adulthood friendship networks will be very important and they will be forming adult, sexual relationships and starting a career which will have some form of career pathway. Adults will be thinking about and will be likely to experience marriage and parenthood. Mature adults may have a reduced amount of time socializing within friendship networks due to their time being priorities to child care, parent care, work and other family commitments. Older adulthood (65+ years) Older adults will be less active and are therefore likely to put on weight regardless of eating the same as they previously had. They will be more susceptible to disease and illness, for example; osteoporosis, arthritis, stroke and flu. Older adults will also be prone to falling over as their balance will moderately decrease, half of over ox's currently meet the equality act definition of disabled. It is in older adulthood where Chaises re-integrative stage occurs, this is where due to having a limited amount of energy older adults will only focus on tasks that are important to them. There will be a plasticity of cognitive skills in this life stage; this will be effected by a lack of stimulation, anxiety and disease, for example dementia.Older adults are likely to have a certain sense of wisdom, this will be shown by and due to experience, empathy and understanding. Emotional In older adulthood there will be a conflict of ego integrity vs.. Despair, meaning that in order to cope with aging and death an adult will need to have developed a secure sense of self. A failure to do this will result in despair. Older adults are likely to have heir emotions highly effected by experiencing different forms of loss, this could be of purposes and roles, health and/or death of friends and family.Retirement will have a large impact on a n older adult's social interaction as they will no longer be working, however an increasing number of over ass are working each year. Because of this, older adults will have much more free time but are likely to focus on existing relationships rather than search for new ones. A problem with the solicitation of the elderly is loneliness, 1 in 10 over ass say that they often or always eel lonely, this will link with older adulthood's emotional development. Hinduism and Buddhism are the third and fourth largest world religions, respectively. Many might reason that the two are one in the same, but they are not. These two religions are both unlike and alike, but let's visit what is different and similar about them. They both originated in the ancient Indian subcontinent. An advanced civilization, known as the Indus Valley Civilization, was the root of Dravidian Culture. Later this area was invaded by the people known as Aryans. The Dravidians had a very developed spiritual culture while the Aryans were nature worshipers. In contrast, these two religions are very different from each other. Hinduism and Buddhism religions drew beliefs from these two combined cultures. They mutually believe in reincarnation named samsara which means the cycle of life, death, and reincarnation. Even though they both believe in reincarnation, their theories on the process differ from each other. Buddhists believe that you want to avoid reincarnation and enter Nirvana. Nirvana is where your soul is at perfect peace. They must have a perfect soul and be cleansed to meet Braham, the source and creator of all life according to the Buddhist religion. Hindus believe that you want to be reincarnated into something better than you were in your previous life. Reincarnation in Hinduism depends on how much karma one has. Karma is the reward or punishment for the person's actions and reactions. For instance, if you do good deeds throughout your life, you would be reincarnated into something or someone better. If you steal or commit crimes in your life, you would be reincarnated into someone or something worse than you previously were. Like Hinduism, Buddhism believes in karma in that you take it with you into your next life, but reasons it is just a small part of one's life and that a person can change the result. Religions of the world worship multiple gods, but some religions do not believe in any gods. Hinduism and Buddhism both believe in gods. Buddhism has multiple gods, also known as polytheism. Hindus believe in one supreme god, Brahman, but can believe in whatever gods they want. They can be polytheistic, monotheistic, or not believe in any. The fact that Hindus can worship many gods like Buddhists, that makes them similar. There are different people who established the two religions. Buddhism was formed from the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, or better known as Buddha. Buddha was a regular person who wanted to find the meaning of life. Hinduism was based on the Aryan culture and not attributed to a single founder. Both religions believe in following a path or reaching certain goals, but their goals and paths are still very different. Hindus, people who practice Hinduism, believe in the four stages of life. Buddhists, people who practice Buddhism, believe in the eightfold path. The four stages of life include kama, artha, dharma, and moksha. These steps are also known as Student Stage, Householder Stage, Hermit Stage, and Wandering Ascetic Stage. Buddhism's eightfold path has many steps or stepping-stones to reach true nature. The eight steps are a perfect vision, perfected emotions, perfect speech, integral action, proper livelihood, complete energy, complete awareness, and full meditation and one-pointedness of mind. That is one of the ways that help Buddhists in reaching a better spiritual life or nirvana. Another similarity between the two religions is their belief in dharma. Dharma refers to the natural order of the Universe, moral behavior, and appropriate actions. But, dharma has different meanings to each religion. In Hinduism, dharma is the ethical and spiritual law governing individual behavior. In Buddhism, dharma is the dogma, the common truth mutual to all persons always. There are books that hold holy writings or how to practice a certain religion. Mutually, Hinduism and Buddhism have a holy book, but each is different. Hindus have the Vedas and Buddhists have the Tripitaka. The Vedas has hymns, rituals, and poems. It also has the Buddhists duties for their different social classes. The Tripitaka has the teachings of Buddha and rules for Buddhist monks. As you can see, there are many differences between Buddhism and Hinduism than there are similarities. They both have holy books and gods. Though they are both different with their beliefs on how to reach their Nirvana or gods. They might also believe in reincarnation, but both have different opinions on it. Even with their differences, they are both great religions and were interesting to learn about.Kumar, M. Courage in To Kill a Mockingbird Essay
ââ¬Å"Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualitiesâ⬠¦ because it is the quality which guarantees all others,â⬠(Winston Churchill). There are several different ways t be courageous. Harper Lee, in her 1960 novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, uses courage as a main theme. Harper Lee demonstrates that if one can tell the truth, change or remain rooted in their morals, they are a minority among people who lack the ability to do so. In To Kill a Mockingbird there are different characters that show it takes a certain amount of courage to tell the truth. When Dolphus Raymond said, ââ¬Å"You little folk wonââ¬â¢t tell on me now, will you? Itââ¬â¢d ruin my reputation if you did,â⬠(Lee 227) after he showed the kids that is was Coke in his paper and not alcohol. It was to make the children feel better about the trial. He had the courage to tell the kids the truth, right when there was a whole lot of lying going on in the courtroom, and risked them spreading his story. Another great example is that Tom Robinson, during his trial, had the courage to tell the truth about why he regularly helped Mayella. When Mr. Gilmer asked Tom why he was so obliged to do Mayellaââ¬â¢s chores for free, Tom ruined any chance he had of winning the case by answering, ââ¬Å"I felt right sorry for her, she seemed to try moreââ¬â¢n the rest of ââ¬â¢em,â⬠(224). Back in the 1930ââ¬â¢s in the southern hills of Maycomb County, Alabama, where this story takes place, how dare a black man feel sorry for a white woman. The white citizens of the south believed that blacks were the lowest of the low. Lower than trailer trash, like the Ewells. What Tom said contradicted the mindset of the time and he died because of it. Not many characters have the strength to tell the truth, however some do and the make a world of change. Harper Lee, in To Kill a Mockingbird, shows the readers that having the ability to change is quite significant. Not everyone can, and change can take your life, shake it a bit and when itââ¬â¢s put back down you donââ¬â¢t know if it is for better or for worse. Scout always used to get into fights. One day, Atticus asked Scout to stop fighting. Scout loves her father very much and doesnââ¬â¢t want to disappoint him so she listened, no matter how much she got chided for it. When I committed myself to a policy of cowardice. Word got around that Scout Finch wouldnââ¬â¢t fight anymore, her daddy wouldnââ¬â¢t let her,â⬠(92). It was courageous of her to change because fighting was a big part of her life and her peers were sure to tease her. Another character that exemplifies the courage to change is Mrs. Dubose. She was addicted to morphine but had the courage to change for the final hours of her life, even though she knew she would die soon no matter what. ââ¬Å"I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. Courage is when you know youââ¬â¢re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what,â⬠(128). Mrs. Dubose had the courage to change and died content with herself. Itââ¬â¢s clear that you need to be courageous to change because not many characters change in this story. Maycomb was born in ignorance and Maycomb continued to live in ignorance. The most courageous acts in To Kill a Mockingbird occur when a character is alone in their morals and remain rooted in those morals no matter what. Atticus is a perfect example of someone ââ¬Å"sticking to their gunsâ⬠. The reason that he gives his children as to why he is defending the black man, Tom Robinson is, ââ¬Å"Before I can live with other folks, Iââ¬â¢ve got to live with myself,â⬠(120). A different example is at the end of the book, when Boo Radley kills Bob Ewell. Sherriff Tate sticks to his morals by reporting that Mr. Ewell fell on his knife. Sherriff Tate told Atticus that if Boo was charged with murder, the attention he would receive from the townââ¬â¢s women would kill Boo. Another example of a character being steadfast in their morals is when Calpurnia, knowing that everyone is equal, takes Jem and Scout to the black peopleââ¬â¢s church. Some of the black folks werenââ¬â¢t very welcoming to the kids because they were white. ââ¬Å"Lula stopped, but she said, ââ¬ËYou ainââ¬â¢t got no business bringinââ¬â¢ white chillun here-they got their church, we got ourââ¬â¢n. It is our church ainââ¬â¢t it Miss Cal? ââ¬Ë Calpurnia said, ââ¬ËItââ¬â¢s the same God ainââ¬â¢t it? ââ¬Ëâ⬠(136). These characters truly are minorities. That is when they shine and are model citizens of Maycomb County. Seems like being alone, fighting for what they believe in, makes them stronger. In To Kill a Mockingbird, it is the characters that have the courage to stand out against racism and break the status quo of Maycomb County that are a minority among the characters that donââ¬â¢t. Courage is one of the biggest themes in To Kill a Mockingbird and only a special few are able to possess it. As Reggie White said, ââ¬Å"God places the heaviest burden on those who can carry its weight. ââ¬Å"

Mining Investement Analysis - Research Paper Example ii. Refined copper production differs from mine production. Mine production includes the extraction of the copper ores from the copper mines while refined copper production is derived from mine production. In simple terms, mine production is just the extraction an refined copper from underground or the surface while refined copper production involves refining of copper from the mine production. Even though there is a long standing desire to capture additional economic returns through copper products fabrications, the prospects from the copper in both the short term and medium term are not pleasing. There exists variability between the productions and selling of copper and copper alloy semi-manufacturers on a significant scale is highly constrained by factors from the demand side and the supply side. Though copper is a major input in the copper fabrication industry, copper faces little competitive advantage from sourcing copper inputs locally. This is because the price of copper is set by the international commodity exchanges and greatly varies little through out the world. If a given country produces copper, a fabricator in the same country may not have much cost advantage when buying copper in another country. In this case, the maximum cost advantage which the country (the latter) could gain is the cost of shipping the cathode copper to the fabricator in the former county. The fabrication of copper required other raw materials which may not be available in the producing country. As a general rule, the copper industry prefers to use scrap provided that there is supply of acceptability quality and 37 percent of the copper be derived from scrap metal. Many copper products are copper alloys in many countries and only a few of the other metals are required. The need to import the other metals may be a source of comparative disadvantage for some countries. In some copper producing

Culture Diversity between Saudi and Indian Cultures Assignment
Culture Diversity between Saudi and Indian Cultures - Assignment Example The Indian culture is probably one of the oldest and most unique cultures. Various parts of India, the south, north and northeast have distinct cultures of their own. From the interview, one would get to learn that in the various states of India, almost every state has created its own cultural niche. On the other hand, Saudi Arabia is also a rich culture which has mainly been shaped by the Islamic religion. Trade has also played a great role in enriching Arabian culture ever since the ancient time, as well as, its Bedouin traditions. In India religion is the way of life. Their religious beliefs and practices play a huge role in the culture and traditions of the Indian people (Hardy 69). However, the Indian society has really not changed. On the contrary, the Saudi society has gone through many developments over the years. The people of Saudi Arabia have with time dropped their traditions and values, their customs, their style of dressing and hospitality and adopted the modern way of doing things (Hardy 73). On the other hand, Indians up to date, still upholds their style of dressing, performing daily rituals and customs. The greatest similarity between the two is that their cultures are based mainly on the religion. For Indians, it is a pure religion while for Saudis it is Islam and Arab culture intertwined. Both Indian and Saudis are very welcoming to strangers, friends and family. In addition, Indians have many religions which include: Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Jainism, Islam, Christianity and Zoroastrian religions, while, Islam is the main religion for the people of Saudi Arabia. There exist a small percentage of Christians and Hindus who are primarily noncitizens from other countries (Hardy 77). In addition, to that Hindus are not allowed to worship in Saudi Arabia. Conversion fromà Islam to another religion could result in a death sentence as punishment. However, in India, Hinduism is the main religion with over eight percent of the population being Hindu. Buddhism is the second most popular religion whereas Islam is the leading religion in India.

Moving a business to Nigeria. Political and Legal, Demographics, Essay
Moving a business to Nigeria. Political and Legal, Demographics, Culture And Human Development Index - Essay Example The following paper discusses the many challenges of shifting business to Nigeria and recommends solutions to the soaring labor costs and increasing competition. Information regarding Nigeriaââ¬â¢s demographic, economic, cultural, political and developmental situation has been analyzed leading to the decision that the company should continue to produce and sell in the US and not do any kind of business in Nigeria. Demographics of Nigeria Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa. In July 2012, Nigeria was estimated to record a population of 170,123,740 people (Akinpelu 7). This translates to a population density of 184. 52 compared to 33. 114 people per square kilometer in USA (Hamilton and Webster 51). This indicates that Nigeria's resources, especially land, are quite strained. Such a high population density indicates poor planning and possibility of a nation not being able to sustain itself. Although the high population may indicate availability of cheap labor, lack of suf ficient funds from the government towards education leads to lack of quality human resource. This is not good for business and thus, it would not be advisable to move a business from New York to Nigeria on the basis of high population densities. In fact, USA has a population higher than that of Nigeria making it a larger market amidst growing competition in the business of manufacturing motorized scooters. There are 250 ethnic groups in Nigeria divided almost equally between Christianity and Islam. Religious differences have seen a history of intense religious clashes between Muslims and Christians causing poor business environments. On 20th June 2012, Red Cross estimated that 80 had been killed in Kaduna due to a Muslim-Christian conflict. To curb language barriers, English is used as the official language. The literacy level in Nigeria is estimated to be 78% compared to 99% for USA (Hamilton and Webster 73). This gives USA an upper hand while using these figures to compare quality of workforce between the two countries. Culture Being an African country, Nigeria has deep roots in its culture. With over 50 languages being spoken by the 250 ethnic groups, Nigeriaââ¬â¢s culture is quite diversified and thus complex to generalize. This may not be good for business since it is complex to familiarize a business with the many cultures in Nigeria. Nigeriaââ¬â¢s is however rapidly changing into a modernized country as a result of the rise of its movie industry known as Nollywood in the global market (Akinpelu 24). This shows that Nigerians are hardworking and creative relative to many countries in Africa but certainly not the USA which has the biggest and most developed movie industry in the world. USAââ¬â¢s culture is modernized and more uniform compared to that of Nigeria (Hamilton and Webster 93). USAââ¬â¢s culture is more liberal as compared to Nigeria hence making it easier to accommodate change as a strategy in business. Culture is an important facto r while considering modes of marketing in order to reach and convince a larger audience. Human Development Index Human development index is important in determining how developed a country is. This index captures information about life expectancy, education, literacy, quality of life and standards of living. With the inclusion of all the above determinants of human development index, we can comfortably classify countries as underdeveloped, developing or developed. Nigeriaââ¬â¢s HDI was estimated to be 0.459 and thus classified as having low human development. USAââ¬â¢s HDI is classified as very high ranking 3rd globally with a figure of 0.910 (Hamilton and Webster 49). This makes US a better region to nature oneââ¬â¢s business compared to Nige

Journal Entry Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 5
Journal Entry - Essay Example These and many other issues have made it necessary that all stakeholders in the nursing fraternity should seek to be active when it comes to developing health regulations and policies. This is contrary to the existing scenario in which government policy makers and not healthcare professionals are developing them. With the increasing complex landscape of patient care, it is the role of the nurses and nurse leaders to devise measures of providing the required care. This is because nurses are the healthcare professionals who execute all the roles required to foster faster and better recovery of patients. Additionally, they spend the most time beside patientsââ¬â¢ beds. One of the major ways of addressing this is by implementing the all-round foci as taught in nursing school that range from preventive care, patient communication, improving efficiency, cost containment, and more importantly preventing relapse and costly returns to healthcare institutions by the patients. In a nutshell, the nurse can only be able to implement such if they become active in developing health policies and regulations since they understand the patientsââ¬â¢ needs and welfare than do the federal and state bodies. The landscape of patient care is expanding and varying rapidly, and efficient strategies such those m entioned can only be identified and customized for the good of patients if healthcare professionals are allowed the necessary support and freedom. Nurses should take up the challenge of being politically active because it is a sacrifice required to bring a better healthcare system into existence. Political skills are required in addition to energy, time, will, and resources of power. One way to become politically active is by providing first-person perspectives on matters healthcare by highlighting the impacts that certain regulations, bills, or decisions are bound to affect the healthcare fraternity. This includes patients and
